“Rich Dagampat made our vacation! My family and I initially visited Huntington Beach to watch the surfers and little did we know later that day we would be surfing ourselves. My brother Austin and I met Rich when we were attempting to rent boogie boarding gear but he persuaded us to give surfing a try instead. Austin, being a 14 year old 90 lb fearless kid, was able to stand up on the board almost immediately. I on the other hand took many, many attempts before I was able to stand up entirely. Rich was encouraging and patient throughout the lesson and with his direction my brother and I were able to do what that morning we thought was impossible. We loved it so much that we made plans to surf with him later that week. On our second trip, Rich geared us up with wet suits and boards and took us out to Newport beach. We spent the next 2 hours fine tuning our newly acquired skills. His energy and patience never dwindled even when our energy did. And as the first time, we were tired but elated from the whole experience. I feel like we found a gem when we met Rich. He is a kind and motivating instructor and his positive attitude on surfing and life is contagious. Plus, I don't think you can find a more social, well connected surfer in Southern California.
